Well she is going to be close to DC again in June and I am going to try to go to that one. It sucks though since it is at 7:30 at night and I live over three hours from where they are having it.

I thought yo uall would enjoy reading this, it's an interview that is posted on SFBC:
Name: SHERRILYN KENYON
Who or what inspired you to be a romance writer?
SHERRILYN KENYON: No one really inspired me to be a romance writer per se, but my family and teachers always encouraged my writing. I wrote all kinds of stories and nonfiction, and after I got married, I decided to finally sit down and write a novel with the actual intent of sending it out to publishers (I had written dozens before this, for myself and my friends). My first "professional" attempt at a novel was a science fiction piece, but I noticed the romance was actually more key to the plot than the science. Since no one at that time published futuristic romances and it was even more difficult to sell romantic science fiction, I left that story halfway finished and moved on to a medieval novel. Two years later when the futuristic romance market opened, I went back to Born of the Night and finished it, sent it in and sold it in two days to the first publisher who saw it.
Can you name the first romance you ever read? Why was it so memorable?
SHERRILYN KENYON: Shanna by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss. The highlight of my life was having dinner next to her at my publisher's party last year. She is a true lady and a wonderful person. I think she must think I'm nuts since I spent the whole evening tripping over my tongue and telling her how much I adore her writing...but I digress. Back to the question, I was 13 or 14- years- old and at that time a die-hard science fiction reader. I had never even heard of romances, but noticed my best friend was always carrying around these strange- looking novels with a man and woman on the cover. When she explained to me that they were "love" stories, I thought, "ick!" Boys really weren't all that appealing to me in those days- in fact, they had only one use as far as I was concerned- target practice. However, Kim kept pressuring me to try them until one day I made an offer: I would read her favorite romance if she would read my favorite science fiction novel. She handed me Shanna and that was all it took. From that moment on, I was a voracious romance reader.
Besides reading, what are some of your hobbies?
SHERRILYN KENYON:I have a lot of hobbies. I play the flute every day, cross-stitch, needlepoint, quilt, do jewlery-making, crochet, knit, produce digital art, and I love to make sock-monkeys. I also make one-of-a-kind BarbieB.. dolls, and I collect ancient jewlery, medieval reproductions, tarot decks and I preserve my children's artwork.

I cancelled my order for DSOTM. Amazon said it wouldn't be shipping until a couple of weeks after it was released. So keep your fingers crossed that I can find it in the stores on Tuesday.
