Oh yes, I´m absolutely in love with Razvan . He has this haunted, but nevertheless powerful look ... that little shadow ... the force mixed with this vulnerability *Clearing throat* Well, let´s just say, he´s really hot ...

LOL Delphine I think you've found a new favorite Carpathian male to obsess over. ;D But I agree, Razvan is one fine looking man. ;D
What did you think of Ivory? I thought she had that powerful, wise, exotically beautiful, with a little-danger-added look, that would fit her character.

Well I saw the trailer and though I am not completely caught up there (only a few books a way) I didn't quiet understand it. I know if I finish the series soon and watch it again, I may understand it more. So I guess I really can't comment on it all

I really liked the trailer. I though it showed just enough to get us interested, like we weren't already LOL, but not enough to ruin the book.

Yes, red, I think Ivory´s well represented in the trailer.
I don´t know how many times I watched the trailer already ;-); it just gives you glimpses of the happenings, a hint - there´s quite sure Razvan will probably being the one to fight the bond of lifemates first, Ivory forcing her will on him. And that they´re going to go against everybody - it seems like they might lure Xavier and the vamps in the open.

As for Razvan fighting the lifemate bond, I don't know if it will be so much it he will be fighting against it, but rather Ivory choosing to only be his mate because he's useful to her plans, and not for the reasons that really matter, if that's what she intends to do. Even if Ivory does quickly accept the bond, I wonder if she'll excet the emotional attachment as quick, since due to her past. I'm guessing Ivory doesn't let anyone get close, no does she try to care about anyone except her wolf pack. I think Ivory will at first only tell herself she's only being with Razvan cause he can help her achieve her desire for justice, and he'll have to sit her down and tell her that by keeping herself closed off from him, she's limiting their relationship and all it could be, and that he won't settle for that, cause they both deserve more than that.

Actually, I´m thinking they´ll both fight it in a way; Razvan WANTS to die even with not feeling emotions, now just think of when he starts feeling again - the love for his children, his sister, the regret, the shame, the hate ... he may not want to deal with it at all, probably thinking of that lifemate bond first as an kick in the ass from fate.
And Ivory, she´ll not let him die because of her revenge. He will rebring everything up to her mind probably - they´ll really are both going to have an emotional up and down, first having fights with each other. And they´ll lean on each other first out of necessity, for their own purposes - and by that, regain their trust.
Well, just my thinking.

You know, delphine, I think you might have the right idea. I think both Razvan and Ivory, will at first fight the lifemate bond, for different reasons, and they'll tell themselves and each other, that they're only together, because their useful to each other and due to a strong sexual attraction , but do their best to deny any deeper reasons for them pursuing a relationship. In the Dark Slayer synopsis, it states: "Ivory and Razvan are bound through life, through death, and as long as they choose to survive." In other words, I think it's saying that when Ivory and Razvan choose to let go of the past, and decide to pull their efforts to loving and bulding a life together, then they'll truly connect, but they have to have the courage to face the future and stop dwelling on the pain of their pasts, and be thankful for what destiny has given them: each other, and a chance at a new life we're their no longer alone.

Exactly. I´m taking a quote from Sherrilyn Kenyon (sorry, it´s fitting): "Come down from the cross. The wood is needed." You can´t have a future when not letting go the past ... in fact, revenge is not the solution, it´ll make things only worse. They´ll need to learn that probably. To be open and ready for the things to come, let go of the past - the emotions, not the knowledge. Though easier said then done ...

So is forgiving yourself; most of the time we can be our own worst condeemer. I remember this quote from Johnny Cash (LOVE the Man In Black and his talented soulmate June Carter Cash) where Larry King asked him had he forgiven his past mistakes with drugs and he said that God had forgiven him, so he thought it was about time he did so. I think along with letting go of their pasts, Razvan and Ivory will have to forgive themselves for things that were and weren't their fault, so they can move forward.

Here´s a post from Slavica, on the Members Only side:
This is posted on B&N website,
Publishers Weekly Even new readers daunted by 40 pages of appendixes and a two-page family tree will love the tender romance in the 20th installment of Feehan's Carpathians series. Benign blood-drinking Carpathians turn into evil vampires if they fail to find their destined life mates. Broken and left for dead after a family betrayal, Ivory Malinov gradually heals, becoming a loner and dedicated vampire slayer. Razvan's evil grandfather, the mage Xavier, forced him to commit unspeakable deeds against fellow Carpathians. Ivory discovers Razvan near death, and after realizing they are life mates, she nurses him back to health and they plot to combine forces and defeat Xavier. The slow-to-trust Ivory fights her growing feelings for Razvan, whose self-hatred juxtaposes brilliantly with his innate gentle nature. Fans looking for a departure from Feehan's usual alpha male heroes will enjoy this lengthy but powerful tale. (Sept.)
Reading it touched my heart and made me sad at the same time...
I asked my husband to tell me what Razvan means in Serbian. Razvan means "hero" ..."the one who fights for justice" Christine, sure knows how to pick a name.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes! This will really be one emotional book, obviously. And Razvan will teach the carpathian men another side of themselves, bringing their ususal believes upside-down, no?
And "family betrayal" - that´s close to my suspicion that one way or the other one of her brothers is involved ...

If one of Ivory's beloved brothers was involved in whatever hapened to her so many years ago, no wonder she'd be so unwilling to trust. It's obvisous that she adored her older brothers, and without the guidance of a father or mother, they were the only family she had left. That would really hit her hard, that one of the men that she trusted and loved above anyone else hurt her so badly.
And Razvan's name really fits him. I also think Ivory's name fits her.

That is so beautiful. I am definitely ready now for this book. To me, the Carpathians have always meant family. They are so connected to each other and to their community. From details we have learned from the ancients throughout the series, it seems that they used to be a much closer and vibrant community with healers, artisans, scientists/ researchers and everyone working together to raise a new generation. I think that Ivory and Razvan will help to restore this community once they work past their problems and develop their relationship with each other. They have so many potential connections, between Razvan's children and their lifemates and families and the Dragonseeker clan, and Ivory's connection to the De la Cruz brothers. Once these relationships grow strong, hopefully the leaders among them (of which I think Razvan, and Ivory especially, will be) will start to foster more of a sense of community. We already saw that in Dark Celebration particularly, with Raven's Christmas celebration and that is when Mikhail realized how important it was. I think that that feeling of community is especially important with so many humans entering into it. Some will see family grow old and die and as wonderful as a lifemate it, I've always personally felt that two people in love are wonderful but it does not fulfil that need for family.
