I have thought that too, however the way it is explained in the books, killing is not allowed unless necessary, if not you turn. However a suggestion, might not be that. However, Rand found his true lifemate, and she killed herself after her daughter was old enough to fend for herself. If you remember in Dark Destiny, the old women lived a long life without knowing her true lifemate. When she met him, she had to drive the stake in his heart to buy them time until the other Carpathians arrived. After that, they feared they would lose her. So, what I guess I'm trying to say is that Rand, even in his situation with Mikhail's sister, didn't turn until Shea's mother killed herself.

A thing I've been wondering about. What is it with going inside of your own free will? Why was it so important for Mikhail to as Raven this when he first inviteted her home?

Okay - Importance of Freewill. I believe its sort of like a relief mechanism in the Male carpathians. If they "force" a woman to accept them, the binding ritual, the ability for the woman to stave off the darkness is Null & Void. Bad things can happen - like them still turning Vampire. If its an act of freewill, if its the woman's choice, then it means she is accepting of the male and his nature... She will do what she can to save him,...

A miscarriage for Raven is also mentioned in Dark Descent when Traian talks to Gary Jansen for the first time. Gary mentions that "Raven has been ill". Traian catches an echo of Gary's thought "miscarriage".

Raven did miscarry. If you have checked out the sneak peak of Dark Celebration you will see she is still scared - even though she is fertile again... Its a sub-plot of Dark Celebration. One that should bring a bit of interest.
Welcome aboard Stargirlie! It's always a joy to see new faces - posts.

It is so sad that she lost a child. I just hope she is able to have another child and that it makes it past infancy.
