*'Drea woke again, slowly this time. A headache was forming at the back of her, a buzzing, as if a hive of bees had found it's way into her head and wouldn't get out. Stumbling to the bathroom, she stripped and stepped into the shower once again, hoping the cold water would help wake her. Her body felt bruised and battered, like a bus had run over her. Switching the water to hot, she stood there and let the hot water relax her tensed body. That's when it all came flooding back. The black 'thing' that had engulfed her and Stefan. Pictures of his torn and mangled back come to her mind. She groaned. oh Stefan 'Drea thought. What day is it? It's been longer then 2 at least. I don't think I've ever slept so long before. Stepping from the shower, at once she dried herself off and began to dress. A pair of comfortable bluejeans and a red tank. Donning socks and a pair of boots, she took off down the stairs. Her ears trying to catch any sounds that might indicate if anybody else was up. The sun was just sitting behind the mountains when she stepped into the kitchen, looking around.*

*Ailenia sensed Drea in the kitchen as she stretched then rose from her resting place. She clothed herself in a soft pair of cotton jogging pants and a tank top then climbed the stairs to the main part of the house. She reached out with her mind to Stefan, and found him still deep in the sleep which Cristian had sent him into after their last healing session. The wounds on his back were worse than they had let anyone know, and it had taken more than a couple sessions to repair the damage that had been done. Cristian and Ailenia had snuck away to the underground cave for the last three nights to work on him, stripping away the rotted flesh, repairing the deep pits where the acid had burned through the muscle, and to cleanse the poison that had infected Stefan's blood. Both Ailenia and Cristian had given blood to sustain Stefan, and finally had completely healed him. Then Cristian had sent him to sleep, knowing that left on his own, Stefan would rise again too soon and undo all the hard work they had done. Satisfied that Stefan was still deeply asleep, Ailenia withdrew from his mind and topped the stairs, walking into the kitchen to greet Drea with a friendly smile. She knew that her friend missed Stefan and had tried her best to comfort her and keep her spirits up through this ordeal. "Hey Drea, good to see you again, did you have a good night?" she asked as she walked into the room.*

*Turning at the sound of her name, 'Drea looked at Ailenia. "Well, hello. How long have I been asleep?" Turning back to continue rummaging through the cabinet she had opened, 'Drea asked, "And where's the coffee? I could drink about 3 pots. Did anybody get the number of the bus that hit me? Everybody muscle in my body hurts from Stefan throwing me to the ground." Realizing she'd not actually asked about the man that had saved her life, 'Drea turned back to Ailenia, wrapping her arms around herself and asked, "How is Stefan doing? When will he rise?" *

*Ailenia opened a cupboard and pulled out a canister, then began to fix a pot of coffee. The strong armoa drifted through the kitchen, and even though she never drank the stuff, she loved the smell of it. It reminded her of a time long gone, the days when Mariana would be bustling about the kitchen, fixing breakfast, her cup of coffee always nearby. She pushed her thoughts aside once again, and chided herself. She had been doing that alot lately, reminiscing about the days of her youth. She turned back to Drea and smiles. "Stefan is doing much better, Cristian and I were with him again last night, his wounds are healing nicely, though it will still be a few days before he will be strong enough to join us. He asked about you though." She reached into another cupboard and took out the sugar, and a mug, then set then on the counter for her.*

*'Drea almost dropped the cup in hand at the mention of Stefan asking about her. "He did?" Was that her voice? What was wrong with her, she never reacted over a man like this. Clearing her throat, "Just a little hoarse from sleeping so long." Not sure if she was trying to convince Ailenia or herself. "What did you tell him?"*

*"That you were quite well and if he did not be a good boy and do what Cristian told him, I'd make sure he stayed in that cave until you were old and gray and had forgotten who he was." Ailenia laughed softly as she pulled the pot of coffee from the burner and filled Drea's cup. "He knows better than to doubt me too, he was quite cooperative after that." She set the coffee pot back down and offered Drea the cream and sugar.*

*'Drea absently poured the cream and sugar into her coffee. Frowning slightly at the buzz in her head, it would get louder and then be almost gone. "Nothing exciting planned for tonight is there? I don't think I could handle anymore after the last round. I'm gonna' have cut off my head if this buzzing doesn't go away." 'Drea picked up her cup and walking over to the window, absently ran her hand through her the tangled mess that was her hair. "There's another storm out there, in the distance."*

*Ailenia reached out to make sure Stefan was still asleep, and found him the same as Cristian had left ihm at dawn, woven so deep into the Carpathian sleep that he would make enough noise coming out of it to alert half the nation. She wondered what the diturbance was that troubled Drea. She searched the forest, thinking perhaps they might have missed one of the vampires that had threatened them 4 nights ago, and found nothing out of the ordinary. The weather had changed slightly, but as far as Ailenia could tell, it was purely natural, nothing supernatural in the storm that was approaching, at least, nothing she detected just yet. She silently wished that Adrian were with them, she worried about him as much as she did Stefan. He had been gone a long time, and she was beginning to worry about him. She shook her worry off and turned back to Drea. "What's bothering you Drea? .. is it Stefan? .. or is there something else on your mind?"*

*Rubbing her temples, 'Drea stared out at the night, "It's like a million bees have set up housekeeping in my head, or a million people are whispering to me at once. But I can't understand any of it." Wincing slightly at the pain, 'Drea dropped down onto the window seat, "It comes and goes, but never totally leaves. Sometimes when it comes back it's stronger, that's when it sounds like whispers." Rolling her and eyes and grinning, "That or I'm finally losing my mind."*

*"I remember when Cristian was trying to reach out to me, it felt like something brushing againt my mind, perhaps this is something similar .. perhaps someone is trying to contact you, someone in need of help?" She sits next to Drea on the window seat, her eyes darkening with concern for her friend.*

*Stunned, 'Drea looked at her friend, "Talking to me?" The color drained from her face. "Who would be trying to talk to me?" Oh this is so not what I need right now. 'Drea's mind was a whirl as she tried to concentrate on the insistant whispers in her head. "Do I really want to know who's talking to me? What if it's another vampire?" 'Drea inhaled sharpley. "I can't face that again! Ailenia. I'll leave the area first."*

*Ailenia laid a reassuring hand on Drea's shoulder. "Relax, I have been keeping an eye on things, and I don't feel anything threatening around .. I'm sure we have taken care f all of them .. there hasn't been any signs of vampires for the last 3 days, since we destroyed that ... whatever it was that came after you and Stefan."*

*'Drea tried to relax, but the thought that something or someone was out there trying to contact sent shudders through her. She didn't want to think about such things. She wanted fly again, oh how she missed flying. The one thing she missed most from her former life. Closing her eyes, she could almost feel the swan's wings enclosing around her and the then breeze carry her above the trees. But it had all been taken away by one little mistake. She'd let the wrong warrior dye and so she was punished. Spending the last several hundred years as a mortal, but never aging. It was only the last few years that she'd come across the undead, the vampires that now seemed to plague this beautiful land she'd come to call home. Sighing, she looked back at out at the moon, a longing for something more tugging at her heart. Where are you? she asked the night.*

*Even with the net of sleep woven over him, he could feel the pull of her against his mind. He knew it must be the blood bond between them, it was the only reason. He vaguely remembered regret, how it felt to long for something you couldn't have, he had felt it often enough, after his parents ahd died. The regret that he had not arrived home soon enough to save his mother from the gruesome death his father had gifted her with. Regret that he had been the one to end his father's life, it had been his duty to spare the world the horror he would have wrought. Regret that countless other vampires had caused pain and suffering, that each time he failed to save a human from one of the foul creatures another family lost someone close to their hearts. He remembered regret all too well. If he could feel an emotion he was sure that would be what he felt right now. He silently berated himself for the thought a moment later. Why should he be lucky enough to find a lifemate after a mere six hundred some odd years, when others, like Cristian, had gone thousands of years without? .. By all rights, he had many hundreds of years left to wait. Hell, he had barely scratched the surface of what most males had to endure before that one woman came to wipe away all the darkness tht had plagued them for hundreds upon hundreds of years. But then her face would drift through his mind and it would remind him of all that he waited for, all that was not his, and he would slip back to his memories of how regret felt again. He coild feel the sleep spell that Cristian had woven around him and he fought against it, he didn't want to be treated as a child, who didn't know when it was wise to rest. He needed to get up and move around, not lie here in the ground and let his muscles become stiff from lack of use. He knew better though, as long as Cristian thought it was good for him, he would keep him locked in the ground, unable to rise by himself. on one hand, Stefan cursed him for it, and on the other, he was thankful to have a man like Cristian for his friend, his brother, to watch out for him and to care for him as he did. He felt Drea's thought, as she reached out into the night, he had no idea who it ws she searched for, but a part of him wished it could be him she longed to be near, again borrowing from his memories of old, the emotions that had left him what seemed so long ago. He fought against the spell Cristian had woven arond him, and using the blood bond between them he send a soft, reassuring touch to Drea, it wasn't much, and he knew it wasn't what she searched for, but for some reason he felt compelled to do it, some sense of honor, which he could no more explain then he could reason why the sky was blue, it was as if it were a command from an inknown source, and he obeyed. "Do not fret little one, let your mind be at ease, I know not what it is you search for, but I know, whatever it is, some day you will find it." .. then, unable to fight the compulsio nwhich Cristian had set over him any longer, he slipped back into the sleep, even before he could sense whether or not she replied to him."
