Question: Is Razvan fully Carpathian for sure?
It was my understanding that he was not. I could definitely be wrong though. But I'm still kinda hoping that he is only half-carparthian at the moment (like Skyler and Jen and Lara are), just because I think it would be cool to read about a female carparthian converting her male lifemate.... and that could also open the door to other male conversions like Jubal and Gary. We know that Gary and Gabrielle love each other from Dark Curse and that might be an issue that is brought up in this book again. I've always thought that the one thing keeping me from whole-heartedly jumping into a Dark novel and finding a lifemate, lol, was that I would have to see my family grow old and die.
Does anyone think that CF might open that issue in slayer, now that we are (i expect) peeling back another layer of the betrayal and killing another Evil Master?

From what I read in Dark Curse, Razvan was converted into a full Carpathian by his aunts, Tatijana and Branislava, to help him against Xavier. So yes, heather, Razvan is a full Carpathian, but because he was once half-mage, he can still perform spells like they can, along with having the skills of a Carpathian male. I also think Razvan, has some unique, personal, talents that we're going to learn about in Dark Slayer, just like we found out Natalya was an Earthhealer in Dark Curse.

Yes, heather, Razvan was converted by his aunts to be able to protect himself like Rhiannon converted them for their protection. But like Natalya he doesn´t loose his mage abilities by that (and also the aunts, of course). But then, Natalya says Razvans strength aren´t the spells but riddles and battle plans ...

A comment from Christine:
Razvan was an amazing character and one I found magical while I was working with him. I think you'll really end up loving and respecting him. Ivory was astonishing. I hope she has the same impact on everyone as she did on me. And their love story felt extraordinary to me. Everyone always asks if there is a book that is special. Of course Night Game will always be that because of my sister, but this is the one where both characters touched my heart and the story kept me laughing or crying or on the edge of my seat. I hope you enjoy it

Considering what I know about them so far, I really feel that Ivory and Razvan are going to be one of my favorite Dark Series pairings. Both of them are already established in my mind as strong, unique, characters, and I'm sure when I get to read Dark Slayer, I'll love them even more.
I was wondering delphine, do you think Razvan's has some surprise talents like I tend to think, that we'll find out about in Dark Slayer? I mean, we've seen the talents and potential of female Dragonseekers, and I think it's gonna be interesting to see what a male Dragonseeker like Razvan, can do. Also, do you think Razvan goes by the Dragonseeker surname, or even Shonski, like Natalya did?

I don´t know, RED. I wondered already why Natalya went by Shonski, I just figured it being Xavier´s last name and used it that way. But maybe we´ll learn more about it in Dark Slayer. Though I really can imagine Razvan taking on the name Dragonseeker at the end - after all he proved being a real one with his enduring strength and protecting aunts, sister and daughter and people against all odds ... By the way, here´s one more hint from Christine concerning the book: Gregori does figure very prominently in Dark Slayer. He's a great character to write about. What I love about him is he actually has flaws and is very aware of it!I so love it when Gregori is out of comfort zone - really cute and quite helpless! ;D

And here´s one more preview to Dark Slayer:
This is posted on B&N website, Publishers Weekly
Even new readers daunted by 40 pages of appendixes and a two-page family tree will love the tender romance in the 20th installment of Feehan's Carpathians series. Benign blood-drinking Carpathians turn into evil vampires if they fail to find their destined life mates. Broken and left for dead after a family betrayal, Ivory Malinov gradually heals, becoming a loner and dedicated vampire slayer. Razvan's evil grandfather, the mage Xavier, forced him to commit unspeakable deeds against fellow Carpathians. Ivory discovers Razvan near death, and after realizing they are life mates, she nurses him back to health and they plot to combine forces and defeat Xavier. The slow-to-trust Ivory fights her growing feelings for Razvan, whose self-hatred juxtaposes brilliantly with his innate gentle nature. Fans looking for a departure from Feehan's usual alpha male heroes will enjoy this lengthy but powerful tale. (Sept.)

Okay! So we have a family betrayal - probably after all one of Ivory´s brothers then?! And it looks like Razvan could be similar to Dayan, gentle by nature and having trouble with his carpathian nature - and then the self-hatred part - my heart is already breaking for him ...

Oh, and I absolutely love the "lengthy" part - read, read, read; and also the updated family tree - I´ll have to do a lot of updates ;-)

Hopefully with Gregori in this book so much, we will learn more about Savannah's twins and Raven's baby boy. Maybe someone will be born???

That would be great heather, I'm curious to when the newest bundles of joy in the Carpathian World will arrive, and what their names will be.
And speaking of Gregori, I was thinking about how I said, that I thought Andre, was a Carpathian Hacker, and that got me to thinking about what kind of screennames the Carpathians would use if they were on the Internet, and I came up for Gregori, in honor of him being a new father: Papa Bogeyman! LOL I think it fits Daddy Gregori! LOLOLOLOL ;D ;D ;D ;D

SOOOOO ... you wanna more hints, girls?! ´Cause here´s one from B&N side, discovered from one of the Members Only side and it really is ... read for yourself:
This is a super entry, which long time fans will enjoy by harstan August 10, 2009:
The vampire hunter Ivory, and her seven Carpathian wolf pack and her normal wolf pack head home after killing two vampires only to find a dying man. To her horror she knows this Carpathian is her lifemate. He tells her to leave him die as the evil Xavier uses his body to cause death. He is Xavier's grandson and sold his soul to save his daughter and sister. Ivory knocks him out and takes him to her hidden shelter while Xavier searches for Razvan. She will heal him and if he still chooses death, so be it.
Ivory sees a child tied in snares, which is a trap. With her wolves she kills a ghoul, but her brother master vampire Sergey escapes before the Carpathian healer Gregori and Prince Mikhail arrive. They offer to heal her, but she refuses as she wants nothing to do with Carpathians. Though not fully healed Razvan knows his lifemate is in trouble. She has given him hope that she can kill Xavier as she told him that is why she lives. Razvan arrives placing a knife to Mikhail's neck. Mikhail calmly tells Gregori to heal Ivory. He does and is stunned that she was once sliced into many pieces and should be dead. Ivory and Gregori heal Razvan. She explains her only friends are the wolves as her brothers chose the power of the vampire and sacrificed her. Ivory and Razvan plan to kill Xavier or die trying.
The relationship between the lead couple is fresh and gender bending as she leads the excursions against Xavier. The Carpathian support cast is strong especially the wolf pack, the prince and the healer while the malevolent villain is brilliant using modern science as well as magic to attack his foes and the heroine's brothers, though we meet only one of them, are pure evil. This is a super entry, which long time fans will enjoy including the addition of background information appendices though newcomers will feel awed by the Feehan mythos.

So Ivory really was betrayed by her brothers ...

And it really seems all brothers are turned, then. Know we´ll meet Sergey, leaving Vadim and Ruslan - I suspect each one more powerful than the other?! And Xavier using modern science against the carpathians could get interesting ... And did you realize, Ivory is leading the excursion against Xavier! ;D The mighty warriors, even the prince, following the mere woman ;D
